Bimsby gazed at the River Mead, watching the rain approach the ridge. Losing himself in thought, he pondered his unnerving encounter.
Patrolling the castle grounds overnight, he came upon an unattended fire. On the edges of the embers lay scattered bones, bearing mysterious etchings. The scratches presented a pattern, and Bimsby had soon assembled the head of a serpent. As the jawbone was placed, the skull livened with a fervent twitch.
“Leave your king and do as I say. Together we shall reign evermore!”
Bimsby came to in the washing of the rain.
“Crafty devil! I serve only the King! ”
