Elaine sat in the hospital room, hoping to comfort her dying grandmother. At 89-years-old Beverly Washburn soon expected to pass away.

Looking down, Elaine winced at the caller ID. It was her father’s new girlfriend. Liked by none of the family, Christie had forced herself to the center of most recent conversations. Now, she insisted Beverly see her before she died.
Having made it to the room, Christie hovered over Beverly.
“BEVERLY!. I JUST WANTED TO TALK ONE MORE TIME!”
Beverly leaned up as far as she could. Keeping her eyes closed, she forced one last word.
“NO!”
This story was inspired by a true story a friend of mine told me yesterday. Real life can be a hoot.
